Dan Quandt will officially step into a position he’s been holding on an interim basis since Nov. 8, 2021. Quandt is a founding member of the National Association of Sports Commissions and has several industry certifications, including Certified Tourism Executive, Certified Destination Management Executive, and Certified Sports Event Executive. He has a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of North Dakota.

Quandt is no stranger to the tourism industry. He has prior experience as the CVB director for Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Lincoln, Nebraska, before he moved to Texas. Then he spent 13 years running the South Padre Island Convention Center and Convention & Visitors Bureau, and seven years at the helm of the Amarillo Convention & Visitors Council. With all that experience, it’s no surprise he’s also served as chair of the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus and been on the board of the Texas Travel Industry Association.

Waco City Manager Bradley Ford adds, “I am thankful we were able to bring Dan on to lead the Conventions and Tourism team. The experience he brings from the travel and tourism sector is invaluable.”

In this role, Quandt will be in charge of the Waco Convention Center and the Waco Welcome Center, as well as leading the charge on tourism marketing for the entire city. The Waco Convention Center is a versatile facility that can accommodate events of all sizes, from small meetings to large conventions and trade shows. The Waco Welcome Center is a one-stop-shop for visitors, providing information about the city’s attractions, events, and accommodations. Together, these two facilities play a critical role in promoting Waco as a tourist destination and attracting visitors to the city. Quandt’s experience and expertise will be a valuable asset in continuing to develop and enhance the city’s tourism industry.
