Texas-based Oldham Goodwin is planning to develop a new hotel project in New Braunfels, a historic city located 30 miles north of San Antonio. The Springhill Suites by Marriott at River Village is expected to cost over $40 million and is expected to begin construction in the third or fourth quarter of 2023.
New Braunfels is popular with visitors in part due to the multiple rivers that flow through it, offering a variety of outdoor activities and relief from the summer heat in Texas. Springhill Suites by Marriott at River Village will be located south of Highway 46 with easy access to Interstate 35. The seven-story hotel will have more than 140 guest rooms and span approximately 136,000 square feet. The location of the hotel will give guests waterfront access to the Guadalupe River, giving the new property a resort-style feel.
Oldham Goodwin has developed or repositioned several hospitality projects in the area. Previous builds in the hospitality industry include The Courtyard by Marriott at River Village and Fairfield Inn & Suites New Braunfels. The new hotel will be located in the River Village development within sight of The Courtyard by Marriott New Braunfels River Village, expanding the area’s potential for hosting events and tourism. and feature multiple indoor and outdoor meeting spaces.
The Springhill Suites by Marriott at River Village will feature multiple indoor and outdoor meeting spaces to take advantage of the proximity to the Guadalupe River. To create a variety of food and beverage offerings, the company will partner with noted chef and restaurateur Tim Love on the New Braunfels venture. Love is owner of several popular Fort Worth restaurants including Lonesome Dove Bistro and Tannahill’s Tavern and has made appearances on television cooking competitions Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters. Overall, the new hotel project in New Braunfels is expected to bring positive economic benefits to the area and be finished by spring 2025.
