The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio, located at the south end of downtown San Antonio, debuted leadership changes and expanded its offerings for meetings and events. Chaitan Mugili was named general manager of the property in early June, nearly two decades after serving as front desk and housekeeping manager for the hotel.
“Coming back to The Westin Riverwalk as general manager feels like a homecoming,” says Mugili in a prepared statement. “This hotel was foundational to my career, and it’s a true honor to return in this leadership role to serve both our guests and team at the highest level.” Before his return to The Westin Riverwalk, Mugili was the general manager for Raleigh, North Carolina-based Winston Hospitality, overseeing operations for both the AC Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk and Element San Antonio Riverwalk. In addition to having an expansive career in hospitality, Mugili also serves as chairman of the board at the San Antonio Hotel & Lodging Association and sits on the board of the San Antonio Visitor Alliance.
New leadership isn’t the only element of growth at The Westin Riverwalk. To celebrate the property’s 25th anniversary this year, the hotel launched its “Silver Jubilee Summer” program for meetings and events, which will be available between June and September of this year. The offer rewards planners with tiered incentives—the more room nights booked, the more perks received. The booking and respective rewards structure is as follows:
- For 10-25 room nights booked, planners select two rewards.
- For 26-75 room nights booked, planners select three rewards.
- For 76-100 room nights booked, planners select four rewards.
- For more than 101 room nights booked, planners select five rewards.
The rewards available for planners include the following:
- A 3% master account rebate, applying savings directly to the final bill
- A 15% discount on audiovisual equipment
- Complimentary meeting room Wi-Fi up to 25 megabits per second
- Five complimentary valet parking passes
- One studio suite upgrade per 25 booked rooms
- Two complimentary room nights for every 100 room nights booked
- A complimentary 30-minute sangria reception
- Triple Marriott Bonvoy points
