The Fort Worth City Council approved an economic development package in June that will significantly enlarge the Fort Worth Stockyards. The historic district is host to 9 million visitors annually, according to Fort Worth Report. The $600 million project will add 500 hotel rooms, 300,000 square feet of commercial space, multifamily units, and parking garages for attendees at the Cowtown Coliseum. Several hotels in the area are new or undergoing updates, including the recently opened Hotel Drover and the soon-to-be-refurbished Stockyards Hotel, operating since 1907. The expansion project is expected to be complete by late 2032.
