Meet Mary German

Mary German was recently hired as the COO for Arlington CVB in Texas.

1. What are you looking forward to the most in your new role as COO of Arlington CVB?

Arlington is undergoing an extraordinary transformation. The city is thriving with new business ventures, increased tourism visitation and new product development driven by visionary leaders, cross-sector collaboration, great community and a dynamic destination. I’m looking forward to working with Arlington leaders and the community on strategic initiatives that will aid in the city’s continued success.

2. How did you get in the industry?

I began my career as a tour guide at Visitor Information Center Assistant Manager in Richmond, Va. (Richmond Convention & Visitors Bureau).

3. What are you hoping to achieve in your new role?

Impact, growth and excellence collectively have been the cornerstone of my life’s contributions and achievements. In my new position, I’ll continue to work on cross-sector collaborative programs with Arlington hospitality partners and community, specifically in the areas of the Arlington Tourism Public Improvement District, Advocacy, Transportation and Strategic Initiatives.

4. What do you enjoy most about the industry?

Great professionals represent the best of our industry. The industry is represented by diverse cultures, vast opportunities and service-oriented professionals. The more than 10,000 Arlington tourism professionals are the heart and soul of our city’s hospitality and two-way engagement with our visitors. Fourteen million visitors experience the best of Arlington when convening for a meeting or visiting our extraordinary attractions, which include the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park, Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, Downtown Arlington and service-oriented hotels, restaurants and shopping venues.
