Moody Center Celebrates Grand Opening

By M+E Staff

Moody Center, a multi-purpose venue located in downtown Austin, opened its doors this past April. The sold-out grand opening show was a Texas-sized celebration featuring artist George Strait with special guests Willie Nelson & Family and Randy Rogers Band.

The 530,000-square-foot arena is built into the hillside and offers sweeping 360 degrees of glass walls and at-grade entrances into every concourse in the building. It replaces the 45-year-old Frank C. Erwin Jr. Center at The University of Texas and is now the home to the University of Texas women’s and men’s basketball games, as well as other sports and community events.

Premium spaces include more than 44 suites, nearly 2,000 club seats, three premium clubs, 57 loge boxes and one VIP club. The venue is also available for corporate and private events.

Moody Center is privately financed by Oak View Group, Live Nation/C3 Presents, University of Texas and actor Matthew McConaughey.
