By Melissa Sersland

Looking for an upscale experience for you and your guests? From championship golf courses to waterparks and award-winning fitness facilities, these high-end resorts offer endless amenities on-site, blending Texas charm with luxury. Enjoy spacious guest rooms, farm-to-table dining and a variety of high-end amenities for guests and meeting planners, including experienced, on-site professionals to help make your next event shine.

Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas

The Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas, a AAA Four-Diamond hotel, sits on 400 acres of land located 15 minutes from both Dallas and Fort Worth.

The resort offers 431 guest rooms and feels like a private country club, according to Vail Tolbert, director of public relations for the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas. The par-70 TPC Four Seasons at Las Colinas golf course is home to the PGA’s AT&T Byron Nelson tournament, and the resort offers award-winning indoor and outdoor tennis facilities, in addition to squash, swimming, racquetball and fitness classes. The Four Seasons also includes four pools, including a family and spa pool.

The resort can accommodate groups of 10 to 500, offering almost 34,000 square feet of meeting space and 31 multipurpose rooms. The resort’s largest ballroom is approximately 8,000 square feet.

The wide variety of spaces offers lots of flexibility for meeting planners.

“A company can host a typical conference in the ballroom, a trendy social event in our outdoor pavilion, an intimate dinner in one of our private dining rooms or an outdoor company picnic on our 400-acre green space,” Tolbert says.

A favorite team-building activity is the resort’s own Amazing Race-style team competition, and the resort’s locally sourced Texasthemed and barbecue cuisine are popular with guests.

Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club

The Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club is located in Frisco, less than a mile from Plano and just north of Dallas.

“The rustically relaxed yet upscale feel of the property lets our groups and guests know they’re in Texas,” says Deb Skiles, director of sales and marketing for the Westin Stonebriar Hotel & Golf Club.

The Westin features a championship 18-hole golf course designed by renowned golf course designer Tom Fazio. The resort also offers a 200-foot lagoon-style pool with a whirlpool, waterslides, waterfalls, and four restaurants. The on-site Legacy Grill offers a rustic elegance and Texas-sized meals, from a 16-ounce Cowboy bone-in rib-eye to a Texas Reuben.

The hotel offers 301 guest rooms and 24,000 square feet of meeting space, including 12 conference rooms and two ballrooms (the largest of which is 6,200 square feet). For an outdoor meeting, the Westin offers a three-tiered garden terrace and pool deck. Sustainably savvy planners will appreciate the Westin’s paperless planning, environmentally friendly meeting supplies and sustainable menu items.

Expect impeccable service for your guests and also for your event. “We work to make our planners look great,” Skiles says.

“We make a group’s experience what they need it to be, not what we can make work based on our needs.”

The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa

The Houstonian is an urban oasis located on an 18-acre wooded paradise in the heart of the Houston Galleria area. The hotel has the “residential feel of a wooded lodge atmosphere,” says Mark Lupton, director of sales and marketing for the Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. “The Houstonian is a getaway from all that is a big city without really leaving it.”

The resort offers 289 guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows for tranquil, wooded views and ample natural light. Guests will enjoy access to the Houstonian Club, featuring a 175,000-square-foot facility with three resort-style pools, eight tennis courts, fullcourt basketball and volleyball, a rock climbing wall, boxing rings and group exercise classes. The Houstonian’s 17,000-square-foot spa, Trellis, offers more than 100 services and features an indoor float pool.

The Houstonian also offers 32,000 square feet of meeting space in 26 meeting venues. Meeting rooms range from 300 square feet to the resort’s newly renovated, 6,600-squarefoot Grande Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 650 people. Catering is available on-site, with multiple entrées offered for seated meals that guests can choose from at the table.

Many of the sales and service managers on the property have a CMP designation, Lupton says, and work with their clients to understand their needs.

“We try to be real people, not pushy or full of ‘can’t do that,’” he says. “We really strive to have our client walk away thinking that we got them, that we listened, we understood and we executed to make the client the rock star.”

JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa

The JW Marriott San Antonio offers a long list of amenities for guests on-site: two championship 18-hole golf courses, Lantana Spa, a 6-acre waterpark, seven dining options and an adult-only infinity pool. The TPC San Antonio golf courses, designed by respected architects Pete Dye and Greg Norman, are home to the annual Valero Texas Open and San Antonio Championship.

The resort features 265,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 40,000-square-foot ballroom that can seat 6,300 people and 19 breakout rooms (20,000 square feet total). The resort also has three scenic outdoor spaces, totaling 66,000 square feet.

Twenty miles to the north of the resort sits the Knibbe Ranch, the resort’s exclusive 1,000- acre working cattle ranch. At the ranch, guests can enjoy rodeos, trail rides, armadillo races, line dancing, a skeet shooting range and hot air balloon rides.

The JW Marriott helps groups create a “true Texas experience,” according to Mindy Miller, director of destination sales for the JW Marriott.

The resort’s Taste of Texas is a popular option to kick off or cap off an event. The hotel’s catering incorporates fresh, healthy ingredients. Favorites include locally grown pecans, dried fruit, beef jerky and smoothies, Miller says. There’s also an on-site food truck, The Flyin’ Lion, available for special events.
