Going through DFW? Take a snow globe selfie

By M+E Staff

Will you be one of the 2.25 million people who travel through the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport this holiday season? Then I hope you’ll pause for a selfie in one of the giant walk-in snow globes dotting each of the airport’s five terminals.

The props are part of DFW’s Cheer Starts Here campaign, which includes luggage porters staffing the parking garages, and complimentary coffee vouchers for DFW Airport Valet parking customers and DART passengers. The campaign also marks the unveiling of remodeled gates and other conveniences.

You may have known about DFW’s free WiFi and power charging stations, but there are a number of other amenities now available, too. Until recently, I didn’t realize there was a walking path in Terminal D, an art program in Terminal D and Skylink stations and child play areas in four terminals: A13, B12, C14 and D33. Give the Minute Suites a try if you’re in need of a nap (D23), schedule a last-minute massage at XpresSpa (D20 and D24) and visit the free DFW Yoga Studio (D40).

While DFW may not have been on your radar for holiday shopping, it’s also a great place to wrap up those last few items on your list as you head out of town. There are dozens of small, boutique shops, brand name outlets and duty-free stores. Also new this year are 44 freshly renovated gates in Terminal A, B and E, which include new concessions outlets.

“Our goal is to make the customer experience as enjoyable and efficient as possible,” says Ken Buchanan, executive vice president of revenue management at DFW Airport. “We believe these new amenities and holiday offerings will be a real treat for travelers.”

Before heading to DFW, download the new DFW Airport Mobile App Version 2.0, which includes a host of added new conveniences, such as voice concierge, integrated social media capabilities, a restaurant/shop finder, customizable weather information and more.
