In Bastrop County, McKinney Roughs Nature Park blends natural beauty and adventurous activities, creating a fun destination for team building and memorable experiences. Managed by the Lower Colorado River Authority, the 1,100-acre park in the Texas Hill Country also offers event spaces and lodging for overnight booking.

The park’s 18-mile multiuse trail system winds through the Lost Pines area, a section of pine forest separate from the eastern Piney Woods region. This unique landscape creates scenic routes for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Attendees also can rent all-terrain vehicles for some fast fun on the trails or guided rides through the woods, getting some fresh air before, after, and between meetings.

Guided activities include challenge courses, kayaking, and rafting down the lower Colorado River. Zip Lost Pines provides the state’s longest dual zip line for side-by-side adventure or a little healthy competition. For a more relaxing time, a designated birding area and scenic water overlooks allow time for reflection.

The park’s meeting spaces include an outdoor amphitheater with seats for up to 120 attendees or the Colorado Vista Pavilion that can accommodate up to 80 people. Indoors, the Wildflower Hall seats up to 240, complete with a commercial kitchen and cozy fireplace, and an additional large meeting room for up to 100 can be divided into three smaller spaces. On-site lodging options include a five-story dormitory-style lodge that sleeps 122 and a smaller cabin that sleeps 10.
