Markham-based Spread Oaks Ranch, a pristine historic guest ranch nestled on 5,500 acres along the Colorado River only 90 minutes from Houston, is now hosting corporate events like board meetings, retreats, training, experiential workshops, and team building. The resort offers each attendee in an organization a chance to carve out connection to inspiration—whether it is through collaboration with others, connection to nature, or transformation via exploration.
The luxurious interior atmosphere keeps guests relaxed while the vast Texas vistas and magnificent tree-blanketed property stimulate an appetite for learning. Spread Oaks Ranch offers world-class amenities and accommodations, including 12 en suite rooms. Seven have king beds and five double queen beds, plus a six-bed bunk room for up to 24 guests based on double occupancy.
Several popular connection activations are available to guests, such as clay target shooting, freshwater and saltwater fishing, conservation and history tours, birdwatching, and culinary workshops.
Outdoor team experiences include a chuckwagon cookoff, a GPS scavenger hunt, and other activities based on the group’s interests. In tandem with the exhilarating outdoor experiences offered, an on-site chef customizes guests’ culinary experiences with top-quality organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs from the state-of-the-art greenhouse and shadehouse, as well as proteins from the henhouse, a 5-acre stocked bass lake, and a variety of meats that are sourced from the ranch and cured in the custom-built smokehouse.
Conservation is the bedrock of Spread Oaks Ranch’s mission. Since 2021, guests have shown an increased interest in participation and education relating to the ranch’s conservation practices, including livestock cultivation, controlled burns, and helicopter wild boar hunting. Spread Oaks Ranch maintains a 500-head Brangus cow operation, farms both organic and conventional crops, hosts a wildlife habitat interlaced with mottes of ancient live oaks and coastal prairie wetlands, and maintains its own beehive.
For organizations looking for customized two-and-a-half-day leadership retreats that include luxury accommodations, chef-prepared field- and farm-to-table cuisine, and three days designed and facilitated by leaders of major corporations that have experience leading large transformations in corporations, private enterprises, and academia, the Spread Oaks Ranch Leadership Retreat can be tailored for a maximum of 10 participants. These retreats are offered from December to April. The leadership retreat begins with participants arriving on Sunday afternoon and departing on Wednesday after lunch.
