Toni Roberts, award winning executive pastry chef at theWit Hotel Chicago, is satisfying everyone’s sweet tooth this holiday season with the reintroduction of an exclusive Thanksgiving to go dessert menu. Whether you’re currently embracing everything pumpkin spice or a self-proclaimed chocolate connoisseur, the menu features a little something for everyone. Desserts are available for purchase online and can be picked up at State and Lake Chicago Tavern, 201 N. State St.

Returning fan favorites include Robert’s Traditional Pumpkin Pie; pumpkin custard spiced with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove baked in a flaky, buttery crust, a Toasted Pecan-Cranberry Pie made with freshly picked Michigan cranberries and a Chocolate Cream S’more Pie made with graham cracker crust and a chocolate pudding filling. For those looking for a new Thanksgiving tradition, three pounds of dark Valrhona chocolate, peanut butter rice crispy treats and a peanut butter filling take the form of the iconic Golden Chocolate Peanut Butter Turkey.

“We really enjoyed contributing to our customers’ holidays. Our one-of-a-kind Golden Chocolate Peanut Butter Turkey was a hit last year. We had customers sending us videos of their families’ turkey ‘slaughter’!” says Roberts, whose team regularly provides daily desserts for both State and Lake Chicago Tavern and ROOF on theWit. “Processing orders has been especially fun as we get to see the lovely messages family and friends send along with their gifts to our guests staying with us.”

Additional treats on the menu include the return of ROOF’s Apple Toffee Cake; a cinnamon apple cake soaked in a rich, house made toffee sauce, as well as new options including a Raspberry Deep Dish Brownie and Pumpkin Crepe Cake. Cakes and pies are available to purchase in full or by the slice, along with the option to include a pint of freshly whipped Kilgus Cream for an additional $5.

A tried and true way to upgrade any meeting this season, theWit is additionally providing groups hosting meetings the option to have desserts delivered to meeting rooms upon attendees' arrivals.

Come December, items regularly available on both the State and Lake Chicago Tavern and ROOF menus will remain, while some items will get mini makeovers (Think: a Gingerbread Crepe Cake with boozy fruit and white chocolate snowflakes).

After several months of renovations, the DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia-Valley Forge is now open as the Alloy – King of Prussia, a DoubleTree by Hilton.

After almost 20 years of vacancy, the Cook County Hospital in Chicago will be put to use once again. A $150 million adaptive reuse project restored the historic, 106-year-old hospital, which has become a combined Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotel, as well as medical offices, a museum, a food hall and more. While the opening is multi-phased, the hotels are scheduled to open in late July.

Doctors, nurses, grocery store employees and more were essential to sustaining the continued stay-at-home orders that helped fight the spread of COVID-19. Such workers put their health at risk for the benefit of society, and Nakoma Resort and the Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce want to recognize them for their efforts through the “Send Your Heroes” campaign.
