McKinney Offers Perfect Small to Mid-Scaled Venues & Entertainment

By Visit McKinney

Planners looking for a destination with an array of venue types, all catering to small-scaled meetings, and fun after-hours entertainment need look no further than McKinney, located just 30 miles north of Dallas. Whether historic, nature-based, modern, or situated in a Croatian village, McKinney’s venues are designed to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

McKinney’s historic venues run the gamut from rustic and industrial to more traditional. The McKinney Flour Mill indoor event space can accommodate up to 300 and offers an adjacent outdoor space perfect for pre- or post-event networking or entertainment. The Cotton Mill, which until the late 1960s was the largest manufacturing facility of denim in the world, offers a 9,000-sq.ft. event space that can accommodate around 400 guests. Located within the Cotton Mill grounds is TUPPS Brewery, a great entertainment option for after-hours mixers or just free time. (The brewery will be relocating in early 2023 to a larger space adjacent to the downtown square.) Situated in the center of the city’s downtown square is The McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC). Housed in the historic courthouse, MPAC offers multiple spaces including a board room, divided hall, basement gallery, and the 400-plus seat Courtroom Theater complete with light board, microphones, and drop-down screen for presentations on-stage. The theater seating can also be removed to accommodate tables for a seated event from classroom-style to banquet. And just a block away from this, also in Downtown McKinney, is Gather, an elegant 1930s space with hand-scraped floors and a tin ceiling that accommodates 150 to 175 guests.

For groups seeking a calming environment in a venue surrounded by nature, the 289-acre Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary offers lush outdoor spaces. The two-acre Native Plant Garden is perfect for pre-event gatherings and the Heard Amphitheater offers a wooden pavilion-covered concrete stage area, ideal for presentations and education programs, and eco-friendly limestone rock seating for up to 525.

The Sanctuary, located in McKinney’s Croatian-inspired Adriatica Village, is a two-tiered performance hall equipped with a stage. Cobblestone walls, stained glass windows, and wood floors round out the venue’s elegant appearance. The Sanctuary can accommodate up to 250 guests for a cocktail reception and 170 guests for a plated dinner.

McKinney’s Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center features 187 guest rooms and 20,000 square feet of meeting and break-out space. Located at the southern gateway to the city, the Sheraton is conveniently close to most city amenities and approximately five miles from the downtown square.

When it comes to team building or after-hours entertainment options for your group, the sales and services team at Visit McKinney is ready to coordinate the perfect activity to fit your group’s needs and interests. Whether spending time in McKinney’s vibrant historic downtown at the vintage Arcade 92, taking part in a guided food tour, enjoying a night of stand-up at The Comedy Arena, or rocking out to live music across town at the Hub 121 entertainment district, McKinney is ready to accommodate whatever interests your group!
