New National Food Experience Provides Food From 50 States

Flavored Nation, a new live experience that highlights the most iconic food from each of all 50 states, will be hosted at St. Louis' Dome at America's Center from Oct. 27-29. GateHouse Media, along with Richard Gore, will work together to produce this event for food-lovers across the nation. After conducting extensive research to identify each state's most iconic food, 12,000 attendees will be able to taste the 50 dishes all at one event.

Hotel Nikko San Francisco Completes Three-Month $60 Million Renovation

Merely steps from San Francisco’s Union Square, Hotel Nikko unveiled a $60 million renovation this spring. The three-month renovation commemorates the Landmark hotel’s 30th anniversary. Hirsch Bedner Associates leads the contemporary revamp of the hotel’s interior, taking inspiration from the Nikko’s Japanese heritage. The fresh look and updates encompass 405 of the 533 guest rooms, the suites, lobby, public areas, third floor ballroom, meeting spaces, infrastructure and technology

Oink and Moo Food Truck Wins No. 2 in The Daily Meal’s 101 Best Food Trucks in America 2017

Oink and Moo, a food truck that has operated in New Jersey since 2012, is making big news! The truck is known throughout NJ towns like Hoboken and Asbury Park, but after expanding to Philadelphia, it won a Vendy award for Rookie of the Year. Now, The Daily Meal has rated Oink and Moo the No. 2 best food truck in the United States. The food is straight up BBQ—beef brisket or pulled pork sliders, chili, tacos, quesadillas, and ribs.

McEvoy Ranch Welcomes Outside Groups and Companies for Event Hosting

McEvoy Ranch, located in Petaluma, Calif., is setting a precedent. Through its brand new program, the 550-acre ranch of Marin County is welcoming outside companies and groups to host corporate and special events for the first time. Guests will have a pick of six customizable indoor and outdoor venues, allowing for a variety of events, gatherings and meetings.

Viceroy Santa Monica Welcomes New Hires

Viceroy Santa Monica has revealed the hiring of three new employees: Nijad Fares as hotel manager; Jakub Skyvara as director of restaurants and banquets; and Lance Robinson as hotel concierge.

In his new role, Fares will be responsible for managing all operational aspects at the boutique property, including sales, marketing, food and beverage and future growth efforts. Previously, Fares served as the director of food and beverage at Cliff Hotel San Francisco. He’s also worked for The St. Regis Monarch Beach; The Westin San Diego; The Westin Maui; and The Sheraton San Diego.

LACC Breaks Record for Waste Diversion

The Los Angeles Convention Center has partnered with the U.S. Green Building Council and Informa Exhibitions for a record-shattering 90.3 percent waste diversion rate at the 2016 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo.

“Los Angeles is leading the way in sustainability,” says Kate Hurst, vice president of community advancement, conference and events. “It was ranked as the fourth major city in the United States for LEED-certified projects in 2016 and is part of the 100 million square feet club, which made it an ideal location to host the 15th annual Greenbuild.”

Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board Announce 47.3 Million Visitors

According to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board President & CEO Ernest Wooden Jr., Los Angeles had a record 47.3 million visitors in 2016.

This is the sixth consecutive year they have broken visitation records. The new record is 1.7 million visitors higher than 2015’s total—an increase of 3.8 percent from the previous year.

Seattle Southside Tourism Authority Receives Prestigious Award

SportsEvents Media Group—a publication that helps sports event planners manager U.S. competitions—has named Seattle Southside Tourism Authority as a 2017 Readers’ Choice Award Winner.

“SportsEvents readers came out in force to nominate and then to vote for their favorite sports events destinations and the host organizations that represent them,” says John Rezell, executive director, SportsEvents. “Our team is proud to honor the nominees that received the most votes with a 2017 Readers’ Choice Award.”

Corcoran Expositions Announces the Management of New Trade Show and Renewal of Existing Client

Corcoran Expositions, a large independent trade show organizer, will manage a new trade show for the American Dental Hygienists Association; they also have renewed the National Brownfields Training Conference.

Corcoran Expositions will arrange exhibit sales and management services for the American Dental Hygienists Association’s CLL 2017 94th Annual Session, which will be held in Jacksonville, Fla. In 2018, the show will be held in Columbus, Ohio.
