Richmond, the capital of Virginia, is a city rich in history. It’s here, in 1775, that Patrick Henry famously declared “Give me liberty or give me death.” And while the extensively renovated Hilton Richmond Downtown can’t trace its roots back quite that far, it is housed in the historic former Miller & Rhoads department store, which dates back to the end of the 19th century.

The newly completed refresh of the 250-room property includes Gather & Hem, a new lobby bar and lounge, and a new hybrid meeting space called Ensemble. With respect for the property’s history, the renovation showcases the mercantile monument’s rich history, highlighting the classic geometry of revival architecture.

“This renovation will significantly enhance the guest experience and serve the needs of savvy business and leisure travelers,” says John Cario, general manager. “Given the property’s history as the iconic Miller & Rhoads, we knew the importance of preserving its unique character while ensuring modern day relevance. The new Gather & Hem bar, in particular, features nods to the property’s past culture of millinery, tea and retail creations and offers a vibrant new space for dining, working and relaxing.”

Located across the street from the Greater Richmond Convention Center, a seven-minute drive from Richmond International Airport and a ten-minute walk to the Virginia State Capitol, Hilton Richmond Downtown provides more than 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.  Two ballrooms can each accommodate 250 guests, with one offering natural light and a view of Richmond’s Carpenter Theatre through a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows.

Ensemble provides a residential-style space for groups and private events. The new 1,400-square-foot meeting room features an open collaboration space with plush banquette seating with tables and a projector display. There’s also a full kitchen and dining area and a private breakout space with a TV and conference table.

Between meeting session, attendees can enjoy the communal bar and tea tables at Gather & Hem, and its selection of small plates, 20 local craft beers and creative cocktails. . The hotel is also home to La Grotta restaurant, offering elevated Italian dishes and an award-winning wine list, and 1885 Café & Market, serving up hot breakfast and a range of regional dishes with a modern twist.

Sheraton Dallas Hotel has introduced a new outdoor event space under its new event programming, Dare to Outdoors. The hotel’s catering team has partnered with Pacific Plaza Park, a 3.7-acre green space in Downtown Dallas. The park features a 31,950 square-foot lawn space and permanent seating, as well as night-sky friendly lights for star-watchers. Three food truck power outlets are available and standard outlets are located throughout the park.

In 1927, Hilton Hotels’ founder Conrad Hilton said, "Abilene, Texas, will be well prepared to handle large conventions and please the most fastidious visitor." Nearly 95 years later, Abilene has fulfilled this vision and is excited to welcome back the Hilton family of hotels in the heart of downtown Abilene with a recently announced DoubleTree by Hilton.
