• Visit Aurora welcomes Brian-Douglas S. Stanwood as Group Sales Manager

Visit Aurora has been growing its team of industry experts with new editions to their staff. Brian-Douglas S. Stanwood has been welcomed as the new group sales manager, playing a major role in furthering Visit Aurora’s mission to strengthen its reputation as a meetings destination.

“Brian-Douglas comes to us from a long career in hospitality, meetings, and conventions,” said Bruce Dalton, Visit Aurora president and CEO. “His prior experience in Colorado market is invaluable for serving metro-Denver clients. He’s a great addition to our sales team,” said Dalton.

Stanwood will identify and connect with meeting, convention, and association planners to drive overnight visitors to the city. “I’ve experienced first-hand the shift in Colorado’s hospitality industry and I can say without a doubt, Aurora is truly a destination on the rise,” said Stanwood. “With the introduction of the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in 2018, we’re continuing to gain ground in Colorado’s growing meetings market.”

Stanwood’s passion for hospitality brings fifteen years of experience, including work at Event Travel Management, Renaissance Denver Hotel, Cheyenne Mountain Resort and Visit Denver.

Visit Aurora continues to expand and enhance positive presence in the meetings industry while also remaining a destination for leisure or business travel.

Laurens Zieren has been appointed general manager of Diplomat Beach Resort Hollywood, Curio Collection by Hilton.

 

The Discover Lehigh Valley board of directors voted to appoint Alex Michaels as its next president. Michaels, a former Lehigh Valley resident and 1987 Whitehall High School graduate, will bring more than 25 years of executive sales and management experience within the hospitality and tourism, and sports council industries to his position. In March, Discover Lehigh Valley’s current and long-time president, Michael Stershic, announced he would retire at the end of 2018.
