Exciting Times in Colorado

Several hotels are opening on the Front Range, significant renovations are happening at properties around the state, the Colorado Tourism Office’s press release on what’s new for summer is multiple pages long and the restaurants launching just seem to get more creative and find their own unique niches. These are exciting times in Colorado. Here’s just a few new things that stood out recently, and make sure to watch for the Spring and Summer 2017 issues of Colorado Meetings + Events. I don’t want to spoil what you'll find in those pages!

Hiring Announcements for DMCVB

The DMCVB is taking on Dave Beachnau as senior vice president of sales, marketing and sports, and has promoted Kris Smith to director of the Detroit Sports Commission.

"The knowledge and expertise that Dave has contributed to the DMCVB is invaluable, and we look forward to what he will accomplish in his new role," says Larry Alexander, president and CEO. "In his short time with the DSC, Kris has helped increase our profile within the national governing bodies of the Olympic movement, as well as created local awareness of the DSC."

Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa Named No. 1 Best Hotel in California

The U.S. News & World Report has named Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa the No. 1 Best Hotel in California. They were also listed as one of the top ten hotels in the U.S.

"The award-winning hotels on the U.S. News Best Hotels rankings meet the standards of both everyday travelers and industry experts in offering exceptional customer service and luxury amenities," says Erin Shields, travel editor at U.S. News.

The rankings rely on luxury hotel and resort industry awards as well as expert and guest reviews to determine the list.

Austin CVB, Professional Convention Management Association Education Foundation Raises Money for Good Cause

The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau worked with help from the Professional Convention Management Association Education Foundation to raise $25,000 for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.

The funds were raised during Party with a Purpose, a charitable event held during the 2017 Convening Leaders Conference. It will help to provide access to health care for Austin’s low income and uninsured musicians.

This year, Austin CVB partnered with Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater and hosted the largest PWAP event in history.

Aloft New Orleans Downtown Will Have RoomCast Streaming System

The Aloft New Orleans Downtown has announced the launch of RoomCast, powered by Chromecast. The streaming system will allow guests to cast content from their devices to their television, all in the comfort and privacy of their own guest room.

Laurus Corporation Announced New Name and Rebranding of Vail Cascade Resort and Spa

Laurus Corporation, a real estate investment and development firm, announced that the 285-room hotel, Vail Cascade Resort and Spa, will be rebranded and renamed.

The Former Vail Cascade Resort and Spa will reopen in early 2017 as Hotel Talisa, Vail. The name comes from the Native American word, which translates to beautiful water. The hotel honors the Southern Ute Indians, the Rocky Mountain’s original residents.

Irvine Marriott Introduces Multimillion M Club Redesign

The Irvine Marriott has opened its new M Club Lounge, a semi-private space for Premier and Gold Club Members that offers guests complimentary food and beverages, free Wi-Fi and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
