• Wagner Named Interim Executive Director at Greater St. Charles

The Greater St. Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau (GSCCVB) has named DeAnn Wagner as Interim Executive Director.

Wagner’s main goal in this interim role is to increase awareness for the greater St. Charles I1 area.

“In the last twelve years, I’ve grown to love this community with its treasure trove of unique meeting spaces, attractions, and events, and I want everyone to experience them,” said Wagner.

Wagner brings more than a decade of experience in the tourism industry to her credit.

“I came to the industry via hotels,” said Wagner. “For five years, I worked at the Carlson Hospitality Worldwide Reservation Center in Omaha, NE and then two years working in sales at a St. Charles hotel.”

Wagner most recently served as the Operations Manager and Associate Director for the Greater St. Charles bureau.

Wagner continued, “My experience working in the destination industry has allowed me the opportunity to get to know the venues and the people as well as the Bureau’s procedures and grant programs.

Wagner will closely collaborate with the GSCCVB’s board of directors and stakeholders to further tourism in the Greater St. Charles area.

“The Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau is delighted to have DeAnn Wagner back as our Interim Executive Director, said Tom Donahue, president of GSCCVB board of directors and general manager of Q Center. “Her steady leadership, Illinois tourism experience and knowledge of our community will provide the continuity and direction required to achieve our goals. She has the full support of our Board and key constituents.”

“I have missed working in the tourism industry, and I am very excited to be back promoting this vibrant area,” concluded Wagner. “I am looking forward to reconnecting with the tourism community here and building on the past successes of the organization’s leadership.”

The GSCCVB is funded by the Illinois Office of Tourism and a portion of the hotel/motel tax collected by the City of St. Charles hotels to promote the St. Charles area as a destination for leisure visitors, trade shows, conventions, meetings, weddings and sporting events.

Julie Pingston, executive vice president/chief operating officer and David Buckenberger, senior vice president of Business Development of the Greater Lansing Convention & Visitors Bureau have earned the Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) designation, the only integrated executive program specifically designed for the destination marketing industry.

 

Diverse, extensive experience and a passion for both DC and Denver are what Lester Robinson II is bringing to Visit Denver as the new sales director, Washington DC Region. A Michigan native, Robinson has been in the DC area for 10 years and has traveled all over the country for work. Prior to joining Visit Denver, he worked with Caesar’s Entertainment in Las Vegas and Hilton Worldwide in Baltimore and Michigan.
