This August, a very rare solar eclipse will take place, and since Nashville is one of the largest cities in the direct path of the eclipse, the Westin Nashville will be hosting many different activities to celebrate the two-minute long sight. On Aug. 20, the Westin will offer a Solar Eclipse 2017 Room Package, which offers guests a two-night stay beginning that night. The day of the solar eclipse, guests will begin the day with a complimentary breakfast for two from the SuperFoodsRx Menu, along with passes to a yoga class at the L27 Rooftop Bar at 9 a.m., along with tickets to the Solar Eclipse 2017 Watch Party, also hosted at L27. In addition, guests will also be given a Rhapsody Spa welcome gift with the package.

The Solar Eclipse 2017 Watch Party will begin at 11:30 a.m. at L27, with the eclipse progression specifically beginning around 11:58 a.m., and the party ending at 2:00 p.m. Throughout the afternoon, beverages, a specialty cocktail, and an a la carte food menu will be available to accompany the live entertainment and solar glasses to view the solar eclipse, although the pool will be closed for safety reasons. While the Solar Eclipse 2017 watch party will be mostly available for guests of the Westin Nashville, the general public may be allowed in beginning at 1 p.m., if space is available.

The Westin Nashville, located at 807 Clark Pl., next to the Music City Center and near to Nashville's entertainment district, was designed to emulate Nashville's energy and Southern sophistication by David Mexico Design Group and Bullock Smith and Partners. The Westin Nashville has 453 guest rooms, including three penthouse/style entertainment suites, eight executive suites and three hospitality suites.

L27 Rooftop Bar, where the Solar Eclipse 2017 Watch Party will be hosted, offers VIP cabana rental service, weekend brunch, poolside fare, and Nashville's highest infinity pool in the day time. At night, L27 offers live music and local DJs, along with cocktails and a spirit list. "Upstairs at L27" is available for private events and VIP clients. L27 is open Monday – Wednesday 4 p.m. until 12 a.m. Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday – Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 a.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 12 a.m.

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has unveiled a corporate docuseries about the resurgence of meetings and events and those professionals behind the scenes who make it a success.

While sifting through incoming emails and reading news items over the past several months, it has become clear that there is a lot going on with convention centers around the nation. Here is just a sampling with updates from Dallas, St. Louis, Denver, Savannah, Miami Beach, and Houston.

It’s always good to have market data for a glimpse at what’s happening in the meetings and events industry and know there are credentials for professionals to work toward. The Events Industry Council (EIC) has released its 2022 Q1 Global Business Events Barometer earlier this week and announced its inaugural class of CMP Fellows this spring.
