For the first time, all five boroughs of New York City are lighting up rainbow in celebration of WorldPride's first time being hosted in the United States. Additionally, NYC & Company and LGBT MPA are partnering to offer a MICE familiarization trip for LGBTQ+ meeting and event planners.

The MICE familiarization trip will feature site inspections and receptions at as many as six New York City hotels that have been identified by NYC & Company as particularly appealing to the LGBTQ community.

"These properties are recognized for executive leadership who are allies or members of the community, programming put in place to honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, and for their warm hospitality and welcome for visitors of all sexual orientations," says Jerry Cito, executive vice president of convention development for NYC & Company.

In partnership with 360 Destination Group, special programming and events during the trip will showcase NYC’s inclusive queer nightlife scene and give attendees a taste of what their delegates might enjoy during a meeting, convention, event or incentive trip to New York City’s five boroughs. Another unique element is a Shady Ladies walking tour of Greenwich Village, which is conducted by Andrew Lear, a renowned gay author, classicist and historian of gender and sexuality. The host hotel for the group’s stay will be the Lotte New York Palace.

Throughout the month of June, there will be rainbow lightings throughout the five boroughs at various times, with a concentration of lightings from the opening to closing ceremonies of WorldPride, June 26-30.

"New York City prides itself on being one of the most diverse and inclusive destinations in the world. Existing laws allow visitors and locals to use the bathroom that aligns with their identity, and residents are able to indicate ‘X’ as gender on their government ID's," says Cito. "The citizens of New York City are a rainbow kaleidoscope of orientations, religious affiliations, nationalities and interests. Approximately 10 percent of overall visitation to the City is comprised of LGBTQ+ travelers."

Piazza della Famiglia, a new outdoor event venue, joins San Diego’s Little Italy with a grand 10,000-square-foot European-style piazza. The Italian-inspired venue spans one city block and is sure to charm with its views of the San Diego Bay and 25-foot tiled fountain with up-lighting.
