A new wooded haven that will serve individuals as well as small groups wanting to get away from it all is now accepting reservations in Fennville.

The Woods Luxury Camping is a 45-acre glamping facility, featuring cabins that blend luxury and nature minutes away from Lake Michigan and Saugatuck-Douglas, Holland, and South Haven. Founder and CEO Jacqueline Petro says that 15 cabins are available this season, along with a community/basecamp area with two large fireplaces and seating.

“We have a second seating area that’s close to the modern bathhouse and this area has several picnic tables and a chicken coop with beautiful free-range chickens roaming around,” Petro adds. “This is right next to our sunflower path.”

There’s also a vintage camper at The Woods Luxury Camping that has been converted to offer beverages like custom coffees and lattes, which aligns with the work Petro did prior to buying the land and developing the resort. Previously the owner of 205 Coffee Bar in downtown Holland for seven years, she found herself drawn to and walking area wooded trails with her dog after she would get off work.

“That was just my happy place,” she says. “I thought, ‘I need to create a business where I’m in the space and share it with other people.’”

The Woods Luxury Camping can develop up to 42 sites, but is starting with 15 when it opens May 30. “This is phase one,” Petro says. “We’re hoping to have 30 cabins in phase two next year … but we’re going to see what the demand is. There’s enough room on 45 acres for people to be spread out quite nicely.”

The one-room cabins are offered in three styles: the Hideaway Hut, which is 12 feet by 12 feet with a mostly metal exterior and custom canvas on the front and back with walkaround platform decks; the Glass House, which Petro describes as saltbox-style, 16 feet by 14 feet with custom barn doors on the front and a see-through roof; and the A-Frame, 18 feet by 18 feet with a deck on the front and a clear roof. The latter two have king-size beds, with the Hideaway Hut offering a queen. Each comes with private fire pits equipped with cooking grills and seating space. All guests utilize the modern bathhouse offering separate showers for men and women, and high-end amenities include bathrobes and toiletries.

The Woods Luxury Camping is reserved for adults only, though couples with a tiny little one who would sleep in the same bed with them are likely to be accepted. Petro says those wanting 10 or more cabins receive a 20% discount and can choose the units they want as available. Groups can also reserve the whole place.

“It allows you to have your own caterers in and feels like you rented a 45-acre piece of land for your party,” Petro says. “I think that would be really nice.”

Attendees are also able to tailor the visit to include lakeside activities, tastings at local vineyards and breweries, and local dining and shopping experiences. Reservations for The Woods Luxury Camping and more information are available here.
