Portillo’s Opens in Woodbury

By M+E Staff

The newest location of Portillo’s has opened in Woodbury. The opening of the restaurant’s 50th location and first Minnesota restaurant was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by founder Dick Portillo, CEO Keith Kinsey, and Woodbury Mayor Mary Giuliani Stephens.

The restaurant is 9,000 square feet with seating for more than 200, including a seasonal outdoor patio. There is a double-lane drive thru, and the interior is decorated around a 1920s theme inspired by the Prohibition era. The menu includes Portillo favorites like Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, fresh salads and Portillo’s famous chocolate cake.

“The Woodbury location marks a milestone for the company,” says Keith Kinsey, CEO. “Portillo’s has grown from founder Dick Portillo’s original Dog House in the Chicago suburbs to 50 locations in seven states. We could not be more excited that this momentous opening coincides with our first Minnesota location, and the 50th anniversary of the Woodbury community.”
