This simple yet playful tablescape would be an inviting setting for any special occasion, but to ring in Cinco de Mayo, one of the first fêtes of summer, it is utter perfection. Matching the colorful and festive nature of the holiday with bold table runners and eye-catching centerpieces was a critical component to ensure every guests’ senses were engaged from the moment they walked through the doors.
Renee Steele, event consultant/outside sales for Peerless Events and Tents, says this particular occasion was for a National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) meeting. The goal: to show others in the industry Peerless was more than just a tenting company (which is where its roots were formerly planted), with plenty of tabletop inventory.
The Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Addison produced the perfect backdrop to give the dramatic effect Peerless was looking to accomplish. The dinner was held in one of the museum’s hangars with old world war aircraft situated in the background, so there was no shortage of history and drama to complement the décor.
The centerpieces’ multicolored roses were flanked with red and orange bell peppers, banana peppers, and miniature piñatas, providing varying heights and textures and a nod to the celebration at hand. The brightly colored individual menus noted each of the dinner’s four-course tapas and family-style courses (all paired with signature cocktails).
Tables were positioned to create a rustic-meets-modern atmosphere. Farm tables and cross-back wooden bar stools mingled in with contemporary white rectangular tables with chrome accents and ghost chairs, all placed in a 360-degree sunburst pattern around the stage (this was the first time this layout was used at a NACE meeting).
The Peerless executive team has decades of experience in the party rental and production industry, and owners Will Wright and Matt Cosby continue to remain involved in every order to ensure each event is handled with the same care their customers have become accustomed. Founded in Dallas, the business has since expanded to Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
Steele says she’s most proud of how everyone came together for the event. “It was a fun collaboration to work with the caterer, vendors and museum coordinator to not only display what Peerless has to offer but also show the abundance of camaraderie our industry has as a whole.”
