As part of Hyatt Hotels Corp.’s continued expansion in the luxury lifestyle sector, Thompson Houston opened its doors last month, making it the fourth Thompson Hotels property in Texas, as well as the 19th property globally. Located in the city’s historic Fourth Ward neighborhood, the upscale hotel promises an elevated guest experience with its chic design, world-class dining, and expansive event spaces. “We’re thrilled to open Thompson Houston and offer guests and locals an unparalleled hospitality experience in Houston,” says Ted Knighton, managing director of Thompson Houston.
Perched on the banks of Buffalo Bayou Park, the hotel offers 172 guest rooms, including 34 suites—complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, custom furnishings, and more. Crafted by architecture and design firms HOK and Abel Design Group, the building blends the essence of old Texas with modern architecture and interiors.
With one of the city’s largest outdoor rooftops, Thompson Houston invites guests to bask in the beauty of the city skyline from the comfort of the custom-tiled infinity pool and 2,500-square-foot green space. Meanwhile, the sixth floor is home to the Thompson Spa, which offers an array of indulgent treatments and amenities.
The hotel is also currently in the process of building its collection of culinary offerings. Sol 7, Thompson Houston’s signature restaurant, is conveniently positioned off the lobby and offers all-day dining for guests. Led by Executive Chef Alexandre Viriot and operated by TableOne Hospitality, the restaurant is soon to be joined by French brasserie Chardon and upscale supper club Buck 40. Also opening this spring at the hotel is Toca Madera, a Mexican steakhouse, and Meduza Mediterrania, a unique Mediterranean dining experience.
With over 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including an 8,000-square-foot ballroom, Thompson Houston is poised to become one of the city’s premier venues for meetings and events. Its convenient location near Houston’s top attractions—including The Galleria, downtown, the Houston Museum District, and professional sports venues like Minute Maid Park and Shell Energy Stadium—offers great accessibility for attendees.
