Zachry Hospitality recently broke ground on The Monarch San Antonio, a boutique hotel coming to the downtown area. The 200-room, 17-story hotel is the latest addition to the Curio Collection by Hilton portfolio and is projected to open in early 2026, according to an official statement from Zachry Hospitality.

Inspired by the journey of the monarch butterfly, which migrates through the San Antonio region each winter, the hotel is designed to be a point of convergence for visitors and locals alike. Conveniently located at Hemisfair Park, The Monarch San Antonio will offer guests easy access to dining options, entertainment, and group activities, and is within walking distance of the convention center, the Alamo, the River Walk, and other San Antonio attractions. The hotel’s interior will incorporate native stone, lush vegetation, and water features to reflect the natural elements of the Balcones Escarpment running through the region.

The Monarch will offer over 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 5,500-square-foot ballroom and a large park terrace. Guests can enjoy a range of luxury amenities, including indoor and outdoor dining concepts (from a rooftop bar to a basement speakeasy), a full-service spa, terrace pool, and more. The hotel’s curved tower is oriented to provide panoramic views of the surrounding park and cityscape.

Zachry Hospitality brought in the San Antonio-based Overland Partners for the hotel’s architectural design, The Gettys Group for interior design and branding, and Whiting Turner Construction for general contracting. “The new Monarch Hotel is designed to connect guests to each other, to the park, and to the surrounding community, embracing the true essence and hospitality of this great city to create lasting memories,” Overland Principal and Vice President of Architectural Services Michael Monceaux says, in a prepared statement.

Additional information will be announced on the hotel’s social media as the project progresses.
